Ac3 Player Mac

I have a pretty good idea now that I can not play AC3 files on my Quicktime 7.0.3 and the reinstaller of 7.0.1 will not roll back what I have.

QT does not support AC3 playback without the installation of a compatible AC3 codec component. Even then, it would only play back a stereo 'mixed down' version of the audio since QT does not support 'encoded output' to an external decoder at this time. You might try the A52Codec Universal component.

I have VLC but for some reason it will only play AC3 5.1 encoded avi files in two channel.

Do you have an external AC3 decoder connected and is your 'Audio > Audio Device' menu option set to 'Built in Audio (encoded output)'?
